660 and One Step don't work with Time Zero filmgreenspun.com : LUSENET : polaroid transfers : One Thread |
I have just started doing the SX-70 manipulations and want to use my 660 and/or One Step. I loaded them with Time Zero film according to the instructions here and from Polaroids books. The film went in OK but the top cover didn't eject with either camera. I measured the battery voltage and it was 6.3 volts. Then I tried it in my SX-70 and the top sheet ejected like it should and that camera works fine. Do you have any ideas as to why the other cameras don't like the Time Zero film and what I can do? I also tried an old pack of 600 film with the same results but the battery in that film was 5.2 volts. Is this enough voltage to operate the camera? Thanks in advance

To get a One Step camera to accept Time Zero film, you need to insert a dark slide (or a piece of cardboard cut to fit) between the film pack and the camera. Once the film is in, you pull the cardboard out. I just did it this weekend and it worked fine. I don't know if this works with the 660.Also, to use Time Zero film with a One Step, you need to put a 2- stop neutral density filter over the exposure meter, located on the front of the camera. This compensates for Time Zero being a slower film.
If you did those steps and it didn't work, then maybe it's the battery. I've had my One Step for several years, and haven't yet had to replace a battery, but they must run out of juice sometime.

The cameras don't need batteries - the batteries are in the film. If the camera doesn't work, and you think it is the batterym, and if you have old film in it - change film packs
