I am posting this for those who are interested. It is interesting that during the periods of history where this country was expanding, and where people were working so hard to feed themselves, the church grew right along with the groups of people who gathered themselves into small communities. I can envision that having a place to worship was so important to these communities who endured much hardship and loss. With the life expectancy being as low as it was, I'm sure that having a place to worship God was a tremendous comfort.
