How would a Catholic woman go about marrying a Lutheran man?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I will make this short and to the point: I have been dating a man for a couple of years now and we have recently been talking about marriage. I am Catholic and my boyfriend is Lutheran. I am NOT asking him to become Catholic and he is NOT asking me to become Lutheran. Neither of us have been married before. We have agreed to get married in the Catholic Church, but we are not sure about how this will work. I am trying to do as much research about the situation as I can before I talk to the Priest. What would we need to do in order for this wedding to take place? I would like to thank you anyone in advance for your time.

Sheila,

Nothing you mentioned would constitute an obstacle to a wedding in the Catholic Church. I'd say it is time to approach your priest for details.

Sheila,

Congratulations! The only thing you will need is the permission for a "mixed religion" marriage as required by Canon 1124 of the Code of Canon Law. This is routinely given and not a major concern.

Best of luck and God's blessings.
