The debate over the reception of communion by pro-abortion Catholic politicians continues after the statement agreed upon by the US bishops at their Denver meeting last week. Accusations are being made in the media that Catholic clergymen have no business interesting themselves in political matters. The bishops who have spoken out in support of their Church's teaching have been accused of partisan politicking in favour of the Bush Republicans. A group of 48 Roman Catholic Congressmen warned of a revival of anti-Catholic bigotry if the 'conservative' bishops did not back down....

Flynn urged Massachusetts Catholics to become involved by inundating politicians and media with phone calls and letters.
