Ramanie, could you give us a link to this site? I think that perhaps you forgot to include that information. Thanks.

Ramanie this site is full of wackos and it's certainly NOT an official "Catholic Website". Phew! I thought it was only the protestant lunatic fringe that put out this sort of rubbish. Ignore it.

Hi Ramanie,

While Steve is correct in saying the site is Not an official Catholic site, this does not necessarily make it rubbish.

When it comes to the numerous "end time" prophecies, I think people need to exercise discernment - yes, credibility is questionable. But, if after reading someone's particular message, you feel a desire to deepen your walk with God, is that rubbish? Then the point of the message has been effective.

One of the men listed on that site, John Leary, lives a few towns away from me. He is known to be a devout Catholic. I have seen him speak. Is he "for real"? Don't know...who knows if a comet is careening toward us... but as a result I have started praying harder, more fervently. Mission accomplished.

Then again, I could be way off base with the rest of those people Steve has described as lunatics. :)

God Bless,

Jennifer

The Church has always taken an extremely cautious position concerning reported cases of so-called "private revelation",and rightly so! There are literally hundreds of individuals currently offering public "messages" supposedly from Mary, Jesus, or other heavenly beings, each with their own private little cult of followers. The vast majority of such cases involve either outright fraud or sincere but misguided (in more than a few cases, mentally ill) persons. Some of the material on this website COULD possibly be legitimate. Most of it certainly is not; and some of it could be extremely dangerous to the spiritual health of anyone who reads it without full realization of its bogus nature.

Perhaps a supposed word from Mary warning that a comet will destroy the earth has improved your personal prayer life. But it isn't too difficult to recognize that such a "message", if considered legitimate, could have devastating psychological and spiritual effects on the lives of many. And even if it doesn't, what is the point of praying about fictitious threats when there are so many real threats to be concerned about. Indeed, Satan would far prefer that we worry about some supposed impending collision with a comet than to be vigilant about that which God has genuinely warned us about - Satan!

Thanks tons, Paul, for your enlightening answer. You presented an angle that I had not considered. In terms of your comments, I realize I am blessed to have the Holy Spirit focusing my prayer life toward deepening my relationship with God, casting my cares upon Him and not to get entangled on worrying about the content of someone’s “prophetic” message.

Now I completely see where many could get distracted by reading these messages posted by numerous people boasting to hear messages. I can understand how many could start focusing prayer on curtailing an impending disaster imagined by someone.

Thanks again. Nice job.

God Bless
