I don't know much about this, so I may not have all my facts quite straight, but here it is as I understand it. There is a group of scripture scholars who, from their study of the Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient documents, believe that the principle source of early Christian doctrinal teaching was Jesus and his "brother" James, who taught as sort of a team. They say that the title "Son of God" as used in the scriptures could equally apply to either or both of them. They claim that the writings of Paul represent a perversion of both the Hebrew scriptures and the earlier teaching of Jesus and James. The term "Pauline Christians" refers to those who accept the writings of Paul as legitimate - which of course means all Christians, except in the bizarre theories of these "scholars". Apparently this line of "scholarship" has a small following among those who consider themselves Catholic. So, in their parlance, "Pauline Catholics" are Catholics who don't subscribe to their views, but who accept the Bible as defined by the Church, including all the "perverted" writings of Paul. Again, I may be off on some of the particulars, but I think that is the gist of it.

Thanks Paul. You gave me some areas I can attempt to research. I heard this term used on a few news cast and couldn't pin anything down on it. Roger
