Mithraism

Does anyone know why there seems to be an early connection between Mithraism and Christianity? Is it true that there is actually very little written texts documented on their beliefs because of their secrecy and the only documents we do have are from the Early Church Fathers as a way to denounce the cult and so this connection just seems to be based on assumptions? Can anyone give me a better understanding of this? Thanks.

Mithrism was not rwaly like Christainity till after the third century, by then Mithrism had similar rituals, IE, communion, worhsip on sunday, ect...

Skeptics love to say Chrisyainity is stlen form Paganism, btu sem onblivious to the concept that Pagans coil have stolen Form Christinity.

However, Mithrism is older than Christainity, it origionated in persia a few centuries earlier. However, before it moved to rome, the religion had no real similarity to Christaunity.

Mithra was also not Born of a virgin no was he crucified, as skeptics love to falsly claim.

He was Born out of a solid rock and slayed a cosmic Bull.

Zarove is right. Just because something is similar to something else doesn't mean it's identical to it or is organically related. Lots of pagan religions had animal sacrifice and mysterious deities - as did the Jews. But the Jewish faith and rituals weren't pagan!

Yes, because even pagans can have valid ideas about how to worship. They just don't know who to worship.

Does this religion still exist today or has it long since died out?

Technically, Mithra is part of the Indian pantheon, but is probably not actively worshipped by any modern Hindus or Buddhists. Zoroastrians also venerate him as an archangel.
