Has anybody heard of Barry University in Miami, Florida? A friend tells me it is one of the most liberal Catholic Universities in the U.S. It's run by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. From what I've heard, they dispense some of the most anti-Catholic theology around, like Notre Dame on steroids. They laugh at the idea of a mandatum.

Anybody heard of them?

Never heard of them. Their website (http://www.barry.edu) says they "rank among top Catholic universities in the South". However, it also states that they "celebrate diversity of ages, cultures, faiths and perspectives" - a description which might appear innocuous at first glance, but which seems a bit vague for an institution claiming to be Catholic, and which obviously leaves the door wide open for a thoroughly liberal interpretation of life and the world. Also, there is absolutely nothing on the website about Catholic life and worship, which is the first thing I would look for in a supposedly Catholic institution.

Founded in 1940, the University is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, and is governed by an independent, self-perpetuating Board of Trustees.

I think it is "anti-Catholic" because of it's independent board. Now there are some nuns on the board, but out of a board of 30 or so people only 2 are nuns.
