Hello, I stumbled across here and was wondering. Where did the word Catholic come from? What is its meaning and when and where did it come from? thanks, a nobody

It came from the Greek word "katolicos", which means "universal". The name of Christ's Church, in common use by the end of the first century, expresses the truth that Christ founded only one Church, and commanded that ALL people of the world were to be members of that one Church. Thus it is the universal Church of Jesus Christ - or at least it was and is His will that it be so.
