Human Rights Violations In Zairegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Anarchy 2 : One Thread |
ZAIRE Rape, killings and other human rights violations by the security forcesResidents of towns and villages in many parts of Zaire live in constant fear of human rights violations by Zairian soldiers, who have pillaged, raped and killed with virtual impunity. They do not know from one day to the next whether their homes, farms and businesses will be looted, or whether their lives will be in danger. The struggle for survival was summed up by a witness who said, "The people are resourceful - the coffin-makers are doing good business". Countless Zairians have been displaced by fighting and human rights abuses in eastern Zaire and cannot safely return home. Their plight is desperate. Some are living only on what they can scavenge in the forests. "I returned to [my home town]" said another witness, "not because I was not afraid, but because running away serves no purpose. And if I am to be killed, it's better that it happen in front of people." Around 300,000 refugees from Rwanda and Burundi remain in the country, largely forgotten by the international community and prey to hunger and disease. http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAFR620061997?open&of=ENG-2AF

Our media does not tell us these things but I am sure they are true. Some folks just censor you because of your disdain for the darker race. As an American Vet I salute our first ammendment right. It is unfortunate that we do not take corrective action against the human rights abuses that is getting worse each day. 800,000 slaughtered in 1994, 40-90,000 this year and not much attention is paid. I believed in what we did in kosovo because we were putting human rights as the cause for this war. What we are doing in iraq is saving the oil. If I were president I would gladly war against these animals. Racists would love it and so would liberals.
