What is a Libertarian?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anarchy 2 : One Thread

The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States. We have been described by many as a socially liberal and fiscally conservative party. Our philosophy is more about individual rights and less about central government intervention.

Libertarians believe in little to no taxation. Civil Libertarians are fiscally conservative and believe in a very limited social welfare system. Aid to people who truly cannot take care of themselves, aid to children in a limited capacity, aid to the elderly and aid to the disabled and truly ill are acceptable to most Libertarians. We believe that businesses should determine their own destiny without government interference. We are true capitalists and believe in the capitalistic philosophy that the consumers will determine the destiny of a business, not the government. Libertarians believe in free choice, legalization of drugs, legalization of prostitution and gambling. We believe that the government should stay out of our bedrooms as well as our living rooms and kitchens.

Libertarians believe that the central or federal government has only three Constitutional duties. The first Constitutional responsibility is to maintain a military. The second responsibility is to guarantee all Americans the Bill of Rights. The third responsibility is to protect the sovereignty of our country. The central government should not interfere with state rights. The central government should not under any circumstances take away the rights, liberties and freedoms of the American people. Civil Libertarians are "Constructionists" and believe very strongly in the Constitution. The framers of the Constitution understood the danger of a strong central government and wanted to avoid any inference or probability of a king ruling the new found America.

The framers of the Constitution were visionaries and placed in this most wonderful document individual rights and liberties. The right to bear arms was not to protect the new settlers from Indians or criminals but to protect them from the government. These men knew a nation unarmed is a nation soon occupied. The right to practice one's religion was very important to the framers as they all remembered the tyranny in Old England to those that did not practice the religion sponsored by the king. Freedom of speech and expression was most important as the King of England executed and imprisoned people who spoke out against his monarchy. Being able to descent, disagree and protest without fear of government retribution was essential for the New World to exist under a republic or democracy. The Libertarian Party interprets the Constitution in its purest form. Libertarians do not interpret the Constitution for their own political gain. Civil Libertarians believe in We the People NOT We the Government.

the people who drew up your bills and founded the government were bloody freemasons. Freedom and democracy for everyone else was far from their minds.

The Libertarian party could be easily renamed the Contrarian party.

Name anything that the government or anyone else is trying to do, and the Libertarian response is:

"We're against that".

On everything.

Absolutely everything.

The party of despair

It would take anarchy first to get to a libertarian country. The zion media will not allow this. they have 2 puppets to choose from. they don't need to buy anymore candidates. too bad it is just a dream because that type of government would rock. Now are government is a paranoid bunch like the Israelis are. well you know, the best type of slaves are the ones that think they are free.
