this guy is the leader of the catholics right?

i mean he's so sick and weak...he bearly spoke eleven words 2 days ago...why don't they just replace him...i think some rest will do him good

how can he be an actual leader,the man can bearly talk...why are they forcing this so much? wouldn't it be better to give this man some rest and bring up someone younger and more healthy to do his job?

John Paul is doing this to himself. He can retire if he wants to. In fact, at least one pope DID retire, after only a few months in office, though not for health reasons. Personally, I think he'd be fully justified if he chose to retire.

Actually, it's such a great story I just have to tell it.

The cardinals were having a terrible time choosing a new pope. Months, even years, had gone by and still, no pope. Finally, a hermit living in the mountains sent them a letter and gave them a piece of his mind, "This is a scandal! The Church is leaderless! You need to elect a new pope!" So they made HIM the pope. After a few months, however, he decided that what he really wanted was to go back to his hut in the mountains. So he retired from job as pope.

SDQA...when are YOU going to retire? As I lurk through the threads here I scratch my head wondering what benefit you get out of this forum? I know that I, personally, have way too little time to spend on an Islamic or Protestant (or pick your religion) forum and constantly badger and ask annoying stupid immature questions. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Get a friggin hobby! Go rearrange your sock drawer...in the meantime the rest of us will continue to pray for you, whether you feel you benefit from it or not.

you know, she's got a point, but the problem is this... if you're going to call the pope an idiot it would be best not to mispell acuse or to mix up your I and your A from christian.

this coming from the girl who just thought to lecture us on christian love. i see hypocracy still rules the day. that being said, it is rather foolish to call the pope an idiot, especially from a teenager. the pope is, simply put, probably the most theologically educated man in the world. his whole life is devoted to theological sheparding, and here a lowly teenager knows SO much about God that we can throw out all philosophical and theological teaching from masters like aquinas and augustine. katie, keep up this attitude and people will be falling down to worship you in no time. on the other hand, i think i'll keep my humble service to Christ under His appointed shepard, the pope.

40? you think a 40 year old man is qualified to run the worlds largest church? with age comes wisdom and knowledge based on experience and education. no 40 year old man holds the qualifications to become the preeminant theological leader of the world. remember, child, younger age does NOT mean better.

and this is why i recommend that teenagers DON'T think. you're in learning mode. in the brief time i've spent since not being a teenager i look back at most of the attitudes i had, things i did, and what i said, and i say to myself... wow, that was STUPID. if i had listened a little more, and sought to educate others less, i would have learned alot more alot sooner. you're a TEENAGER... your worldview is based on a speck of experience and an even smaller paradigm of knowledge of current events, logical thought, philosophy, the arts, history, sciences, etc. simply put, teenagers are not equipped to make such silly declarations as "the pope is abit of an idiot." at the very least, get some college under your belt before you make statements like this.

I have read a lot on the Siri thesis, and my conclusions are that the current "pope" is not a pope.

Siri would have been pope from 1958 to 1988. It would have covered the period that the four following popes served.

Two years before his death he was very troubled and said "I cannot reveal the secret". Sometimes when he spoke he would slip and say"we".

I do believe that he is the pope that the apparition spoke about when it said "The Holy Father will have much to suffer". His torment must have been horrible when he had to decline the papacy because of the threats that he received fro the French Cardinals. They threatened to leave the church and form a schismatic church.

Dear Patience: Don't read ridiculous literature and form ''conclusions''. Instead, PRAY. And read the Holy Bible. Take God and His Church VERY seriously; not from out of a pop novel or unhealthy junk reading. We cannot anticipate anything or judge the Pope. Just work hard and keep from sinning; have more faith.

Yes, probably so, but "he who hears you" means more than simply listening with our ears. It means accepting and believing the teaching of His Church as the Word of God Himself. To reject that teaching or any part of it is to reject Christ, at least partially.

kt, you dont have to bump a thread on which you just posted, or even one which even has a post on it already. when someone bumps a thread it is because that thread doesnt have any posts on it and therefore doesnt get on the "new answers" section, while some people never go to the new question section to see it. therefore, the first post on a thread is sometimes "bump" to move the thread into the section where more readers will see it, particularly this is the case if the bumper wants to let others answer first OR if the questioner wants the question to be answered faster.
