Clocking in and out for paid breaksgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Law Of The Workplace : One Thread |
I have just started a new job and am being told that I need to clock in and out for 2 10 minutes breaks and my 30 minute lunch or I will be written up. I have no issue with the lunch but I think clocking in and out for breaks is extreme. I know they have problems with people taking advantage of them but when I asked if I have to take them I was told state law says that I do, so I have clock in and out or suffer the penalty of being written up. My HR training makes me think this is a wrong practice. Is it legal? Thanks.
